If I am away from my family that is more then work. I’m glad you have held real jobs. If moving 150+ people across the nation and landing when it’s nasty winds and visibility isn’t work then why are you a pilot? I’m not flying just because it’s my passion, I’m flying to work to make a living for my family I’m away from.

And when your passion and desire to make money meet, it’s a great thing no?

I am a pilot because it is what I have wanted to do for as long as I can remember. And I consider myself very fortunate to be one for as long as I have.

Nobody (well, maybe those who do not enjoy their families) ever want to be away from their families. But if being home was your number one goal, why not work a 9-5 job that has you home 7 nights a week? There are hundreds of thousands of jobs that accomplish that.

I’m obviously referring to whether it’s average or not. That’s subjective depending on which peer set you use.

Ahh the “Can you believe they pay us to do this?” Guy. .

For the majority of us this is more than work. I’ve done hard labor jobs too. While this isn’t as physically fatiguing it is more so mentally.

But you are saying that isn’t work.... I’m sorry but it is. Are you a cape guy that’s just happy to be flying a jet?

If someone doesn’t think this job is work, fine. Just stay as far as humanly possible away from the negotiating committee and management as possible.

I rarely chime in here, but I can’t resist. How hard do you think the Ethiopian pilots were “working” before their 737 slammed into the ground killing 160+ fathers, mothers, daughters, etc? If you don’t think what we do is ”work” maybe you shouldn’t do it.

I can guarantee you I've had more non-aviation "real" jobs and held them for longer than you. This absolutely IS a "real" job and is work. It's very different than non-aviation jobs, but it IS a job and you are doing nothing but cheapening our profession and carrying managements water and "talking points" by saying what you are saying.

I fly with way too many tired and overworked pilots to EVER allow you to say that unanswered.

I'm shocked at what you're willing to say lately and can't help but see you're messages and timing to be suspicious and mal-intentioned.

And your maff only works if you include the industry bottom-feeders. Is that who you see this pilot groups peers?

True to this! There are also many that need time off and should take a break from their "Flica feedings" to reset understanding we don't run on high viscosity oil. This is why I am a fan of vacations for all next year. It's the safest route. Some of these guys look tired.....
