Dude, to give the people a waterproof jacket is a simple thing... My regional had it. When you get rolled up by some Kennedy LCA for being out of uniform, the sentiment is palpable. Real man or not, someone threatening to call the company on you for inappropriate outerware is bogus.

It’s the same reason they don’t fly to MHT.

It would alienate their already existing franchise. You wouldn’t be stimulating demand, only pulling you’re current customers.

Hence why I said I never wear it. Or at least meant to say that.

The profit sharing formula was set by LOA before the CBA was signed. And changing that formula in the CBA, either to raise it for everyone or to have a separate pool for the pilots, was one of the few items that the company set an absolute hard line on. As in, it was unnegotiable. This company is simply unable to learn from its mistakes and missteps in so short a period as 9 months to back down now. We won't see any changes to the formula until it becomes blindingly obvious to even the most insulated exec that company morale isn't just in a temporary slump, but will be permanently depressed until it is.

Back to Caring 0.2%.

First of all, thanks for taking the time to post up a rational, factual response. It's refreshing to see that some here are capable of doing so.

Second, I agree with what you say, and it's a logical stance for the company to take. The more money they keep internal, the better the bottom line looks to shareholders. But at some point, it shall become more necessary for the company to part ways with more and more of it. The more they make (because of their employees), the more we should be able to negotiate from them. They have paid it in the past, they will pay it again. We just have to press for it collectively.

Yep. You WILL buy this goofy coat that nobody wants.

We have ways of making that money back.

Funny how management has killed the very culture they claim to promote.

\No they never paid it in the past.

It was always rob Peter to pay Paul.

The 5% cliff was invented to help the pilot group think they had a 10% retirement in an age when other airlines were not profitable and JetBlue was. This helped Jetblue keep the narrative alive that PS was not important or warranted since the other guys were not getting any.

Then ALPA surveyed THIS pilot group.

Tada! Most, apparently, thought it was not important. This was NOT on the pilot group this is on ALPA for not educating the group. I very much doubt the group reported it would be happy with 0.2% instead of 8% plus trailing base rates and cola etc, etc, etc.

But that is how it was interpreted.

If that's what you got from my post then you utterly missed the point. We are *unable* to press for it collectively. We locked in this bargain basement formula via LOA and the company stonewalled any improvement in the CBA. They will not renegotiate it. The only hope for improvement is in the next negotiation cycle with a motivated and informed pilot group. We don't have one, and may never have one.

Or possibly there's an outside chance that 0.2% Caring is the new normal, and the company is forced to improve the formula across the board in order to salvage morale and motivation. I'm sorry to say that this management team isn't up to that. They may not even be allowed to consider it.

Have a Pepsi. It's all you'll be getting for a long, long time.
