Delta did the same thing to Alaska in SEA. They carved out a nice % for themselves but there is room for both.

And Alaska is hurting big time in sea now.

I disagree that BOS is big enough for two large operations. It may be more correct to say you can either have one dominant airline with great margins or two dominant airlines (even if split 60/40) with mediocre margins.

One company makes so much in their other fortress hubs to support a mediocre BOS, the other company doesn't have another fortress hub...

My opinion.

A dramatic recession MIGHT change that, but to be honest we don't know how Delta in it's current form will perform in a recession now. Nothing is the same.
But what is it that you want to happen. As you said they could run losses forever. We could give everyone PS, plus pay for their kids college boost morale get back the JD power award fly every flight early give Joanna a ticker tape parade and there would be Delta running at a loss to hurt our margins. I just don’t understand what you want to see us do. I guess we could grow real fast but that will definitely hurt our margins. It’s not like we are giving up on Boston heck they even acknowledged that they need to fight for it.

From what I understand ALK is doing fine in SEA. California might be a different story but I think they are doing just fine in SEA.

All we need to do is improve the PS formula. If we don't get PS because the company is losing money, or a small check when earnings are slim, I am fine with that. What I have a problem with is a formula that all but guarantees a tiny check even when we are crushing it.

Fix the formula, make it generous. The company will only pay it when they can afford to, but it will motivate people knowing they have a stake.

Absolutely! I'm surprised we don't have a LOA addressing this already. What's the hold up?
