Basically already shrinking the fleet just through natural attrition and less new hire FO’s to the fleet

Last new hire class was all E190 slots.

You understand "less" is still not a specific quantity or ratio? All can still be 'less".

Default Which airframe to bid?

Apologies if this is already been covered but I didn’t find too much current info.

I’m starting training tomorrow. I live in the Boston area. Typed in the 190. Looking for some insight on if bidding for the 190 is a bad idea or even possible at this point. I’ve heard they’re already parking them. I would prefer to fly the 190 initially and transfer to the 220/320 when the 190 goes away.

Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks!

Smart idea and totally doable. Yes, they’ve parked 1 e90 so far. The fleet’s flying will be consolidated into Boston before retiring all but you will be off it well before they go away. Best of luck tomorrow.

Thank you! Yeah I think it would be best to fly something I know to get my feet wet and in the door. When you say I’ll be off it well before they go away, can you expand on that?

I’m getting the impression that you only want the E190 just because you already have the type rating. I personally wouldn’t do that. All it’s going to do is make your six weeks in MCO just a little bit easier. You’re still facing the reality of having to waste another month down at the schoolhouse to get your A320/A220 type in the next year or two. It’s a huge time suck and it’s a little unpredictable on when you’ll go to training and how that interferes with your personal life. I had to miss a wedding because they can send you four months prior to your training effective date.

Sometimes it’s good to learn something new, and the JetBlue training program isn’t something I would sweat about if you come prepared. The fact that you’re asking questions tell me being prepared won’t be an issue for you. Now if you’re bidding the 190 for other reasons like seniority or QOL, that’s a different story.

1 has gone to the desert, but 4 have been parked. 12 by the end of the year.
