Never would I have thought to see even the tiniest bit of positivity on an APC thread about JetBlue, but we live in interesting times, don't we? It's refreshing.

I agree that Joanna and her team seem to be doing the things they said they would be doing, and that things have been going mostly exactly the way they said they would. This is good. I'll take a flat year to crawl out of a hole. It's gonna be painful for the SL for a while, but that may be the price of getting back to where we want to be. Time will tell, as always.

To the comment upthread regarding marketing - when a market shrinks and things get more competitive, you don't cut back on marketing - you do more, or you do the same to get those remaining dollars out there - cutting it back is a mistake.

I won't deny there's likely places we could cut some fat out of the company, but I wouldn't put marketing high on that list at all.

. Recycling ideas from executives past by recycled executives. Nothing new here. Dusted off an age old industry play because they screwed up. A turd by any other name is still a turd and it still stinks.

The Stockholm syndrome with this group is astounding. Let’s cheer on the ones who put us all in this situation for finally coming to some senses and trying to run a business and treat it as if they didn’t screw up in the first place.

I am basically re-shocked every time I go back and forth flying economy on us vs anyone else. JetBlue is so nice and spacious, yet it seems like nobody knows this! Every time I tell someone this, they say "really, I was thinking of booking AA, United or Delta because I thought it was nicer." We charge less for a better product and that needs to change if we are going to be succesful long term.

I sat in the way back of a UA 737 EWR-BOS next to a frequent flier road warrior type traveling for business. She had no clue who JetBlue was and asked if they were in Star alliance. When I said no, she said that’s too bad and she’d likely never fly on us for that reason alone. These frequent flier programs create a bubble for those types of travelers who spend a lot. I’d argue joining an alliance is as important, if not more so, than having a superior onboard product.

What else are we going to do?

One can forgive, but never forget what and who put you here. I don’t subscribe to giving atta boys to the very ones who screwed it up in the first place.

Some people know it. The core customers for sure. But yes,it would be nice to get that word out. B6 gets lumped in with LCCs and their crap product all too often.

The Big 3 have basic economy to lower prices and premium economy has reduced the pitch in the back of the bus. If you aren't paying for an upgrade (or don't get it from status) and B6 is going where you want to go, it's probably the best experience and might also be the best value.

Now to get that message out.

When someone comes around to their senses, you cheer them on. The alternative is they continue their incompetence.

What would your plan be?

I have no confidence in the lot of them and they should’ve all been replaced.

Charging less for a better product is the only way we win... IF we can turn a profit doing it.

This is honestly the only reason I've stayed here. We have a winning formula here if people outside of NY and BOS knew anything about us. Hell, everyone west of the Mississippi thinks we are like Spirit now.
