Better get used to having zero quality of life....

I know two people getting a divorce because they haven't had significant time at home in months.

Now, if you can get me that dc base, I'd love getting one call a month like you.
We need at least:
2 different AM shifts and
2 different PM shifts
Biddable as a monthly award

Yeah, one of them keeps getting early shows on day one of five days reserve, then late finish at the end of the last day making a seven day trip...then only two days at home. which essentially turns into 24 hours.

I guess everyone gets different results... but I hit 100 hrs the last day of May, and each block of rsv since then, they have honored my pm request on day 1 and am request for last day. I try to catch a 2:30pm commute home and have had no problems getting released early every time.

Actually 2 weeks ago, they didn't use me at all on a block of 4 days. On day 3, I refreshed my sched and they had auto released me from day 4 altogether. Woke up super early and caught a 2 leg commute and was home by noon.

I've also had pretty good luck the last couple months moving days around to chunk up my schedule and get some time off or spread out as needed. Just have to be realistic... either way its lightyears above the last 3 yrs of reserve at the regionals.

Again, not saying they're lying or anything... just saying that hasn't been my experience in my short time here.

Airlines, military, civil service do not cause divorces. Weak marriages cause divorces.

The above can make things difficult but in the big picture they are bumps in the road of a long marriage. A strong marriage will survive.
I know many line holding FOs who commute (or don't) and work 3, day trips per week. Even non commutable you're still home 50% of the week.

I think that's a bit of a stretch..
I certainly agree that our reserve rules can be much better, but it's not like the reserve system, nor anyone's particular commute, was a surprise to them when they took the job here.
