JBU closes flights 15 min early?
I showed at the gate with 13 min left and flight was closed and leaving with 2 jump seats open.
Gate agent said flight was closed and their policy is 15 min.
Lie?

Truth. Unfortunately this is how they're combatting bad ontime performance. They want the CABIN door closed at 15 but we can't push until 10..... try to get flight crew attention, most will make sure you get on at that time.

Just to be clear, are you saying walking up the jet bridge 13 prior to push for maybe 60 seconds total compromises safety? If everything is done minus plugging in bags and pax, which conceivably any FO should be able to do, how is taking the walk detrimental to the effort to "increase safety"?? Should I not get up out of my seat 10-15 prior to take a leak, which is my normal routine, so that I'm more safe? Because me taking a leak and me walking to the top of the jet bridge takes about the same amount of time. Checking for jumpseaters doesn't mean rushing and/or missing checklist items. It is possible to both be safe and not leave your commuting brothers behind in this high company pressure environment.
