Have you thought about Omni? You’re kind of looking at the same situation vis a vis hiring, but it doesn’t hurt to apply.

In the past we have hired as we needed crews (read behind the curve). The 74 is almost where they want to see the crews in numbers. This time around so we aren't caught short, they are hiring heavy into the 74 so when the 777's start arriving and bids come out crews will transfer from 74 & 76 to the 77 and not leave either fleet short as we used to do in the past.
Class sizes have been reduced because, 1. Huge backlog (60+) still waiting to complete sim / IOE. 2. Loss of 4 aircraft (744) that Atlas out bid us on. The older 744's (BCF's) that were going to the soda can factory are staying for the time being. More 76's being sourced plus the 777's. So growth aircraft wise will be slow or at worst par with what we have now. Hiring will still continue although at a slower pace than before. Upgrades will still happen, again slower than before.
Another factor for the heavy crewing is Company have realized it is in fact cheaper to have more crews and pay min guarantee than rely on crews picking up O/T. They had a bit of a conniption when they discovered quite a few captains making over 400K and FO's in the high 200's. So as I have said in the past if you have to survive on more than 64 hours due to your panash for booze and meaningful one night relationships then you'll be disappointed moving forward.

This has happened quicker than I thought, still though, it seems rather difficult to not break guarantee unless you have a hacked up schedule.
As a third year FO, going from an average of 84 hours a month to 64 hours amounts to about $3,000 a month. This time last year was easy to get a $15000 month with overtime.
If people drop down to 64 hours across the board, people will start to leave again.

So, where’s the “looking at the long game to see the light” reference you made a few posts ago? Company is hiring through the Fall....wouldn’t think they would just try to hire more merely to run at 64 hrs.
