This has happened quicker than I thought, still though, it seems rather difficult to not break guarantee unless you have a hacked up schedule.
As a third year FO, going from an average of 84 hours a month to 64 hours amounts to about $3,000 a month. This time last year was easy to get a $15000 month with overtime.
If people drop down to 64 hours across the board, people will start to leave again.

THIS. I have been saying this was coming for almost 18 months. 64 hours (which probably means less than 55 hours hard time) covers all the flying and leaves a cushion for reserves and pop up trips. This will be the new reality unless more aircraft are bought. And even then some airframes might only be for replacement of the oldest BCF's. As usual the caveat is that only a few people know the plan and they don't talk out of school.

The light reference was in regards to staffing early for incoming planes hopefully... As mentioned a few posts up. However at 64 hours I do agree we will lose fo's... Would be great to see min guarantee bumped up to 75 hour range and would go a long ways to keeping those guys around I think

When I said, "about $3000", I meant $3,000 less for the month. Last paycheck, the wife said, "it's $4000 less than before."
We live below our means and can afford min guarantee, still though, it still feels like a swift punch to the gut.

Really 64 hours is a kick in the guts??!! If I remember when everyone signed up the past and present contracts stated 64 hour guarantee.
To think you'll always get more than that is naive. For many years we never saw 64 hours it's just recently with the rapid growth etc the ability to get paid more has existed. Someone mentioned that 64 is probably the sweet spot for the company and to think they are happy to pay high $$$ amounts when this can be offset by correct and efficient staffing, again, is naive.
A 75 hour guarantee would be nice but be aware that if they can cover the flying and keep it under 64 hours per pilot I'll bet you a dime to a dollar that the 17.5% increase in guarantee will result in the same percentage in pilots off the seniority list.

I am still happy, still love the job, still making more than I've ever had before, still have no plans or desire to go elsewhere, just sucks that extra money is no longer growing on the trees for picking.

I broke guarantee only a couple of times 2011-14, mainly on the 400, it’s a cyclical business, feast or famine, always has been ever since I started on DC3’s in ‘87. The one good thing about slow times was 4-5 day layovers in Riga, Liege, ANC, and HK, my wife would roll her eyes, and call the job my “ European Vacation “ , budget for guarantee, and smile when you go over, ride the waves, and smile. Cheers out 😎

64 hours is a kick in the gut, not because of the contract and knowing about it, but because a precedent was set, people developed expectations. Everyone was offered OT, everyone was getting 90+ hour months for two plus years straight. Actually getting 64 hours was a rareity that happened maybe once a year.
