There seems to be a handful of First Officers on the 767 side that are struggling to consolidate after IOE (short flights and one or two legs a day doesn’t help).
Are we heavy on 76 FO’s? 74 FO’s?
With the Chief Pilot’s Office considering temporary lifting of the seat lock, I’m curious as to how many people on either fleet would actually think about making the jump.
It sounds like they’re still doing the short course for the 777. Would prior 777 time be required to move from the 76/74 to the 77?

allow me to possibly disagree
I have zero knowledge of why they are considering lifting of bid locks but,
If they wanted some experience in K4 intl ops in the left seat, they would find it in the junior 400 CA's who have upgraded in the last 2 years and are still locked...remember 24 month lock starts at the completion of a line check on IOE

My money says they are considering the lift because they are in dire need of fo's. Last bid they got what, 1 or 2 fo's of 60 open spots? Nearly half the pilot list wasn't even eligible to transfer seats because of the lock...

Plenty of guys willing to upgrade to captain that don't require a seat lock lift, doubt more than 5 of those jr 400 CA would bid over to the triple, and by your logic the 76ca transitioning would be useless as they have no intl left seat time....

Would be a great opportunity for 767 FO's to give international ops a try. Although with just one airplane, no one is breaking guarantee any time soon... Don't think they know how it will play out, why they are doing what they are doing, to figure what the results would be.

My line of thought had been that the first officer deck had been stacked with the thought of having a ready supply of guys to fill the right seat for a 3-4 aircraft aquisition in the triple fleet as soon as we get etops and are able to run the airplane to it's potential... Either way I think the next year at kalitta is going to be interesting.
as nl3 said - no one is breaking guarentee any time soon, senior CA's and senior FO's know they can bid those respective seats on the triple whenever they like..

my line of thought was that they may want current CA's to bid to the triple so that they're not faced with nearly every crew consisting of a new CA and a new hire FO...lifting the lock would allow guys with some experience to bid into those seats
