Living in Detroit I am seriously considering making the switch to Kalitta. Most of the questions I had were answered through reading the last 100 pages although a few remain.
Are there any plans in the future for Kalita to get KCM?
How hard is it to credit over 64 hours on reserve/line?
I live in metro Detroit. Can I drive to training every day?

2. Easy
3. Yes, but once out of training you will never fly out of Detroit. You will always commute to the plane.

DFW-based CRJ900 these days. Been taking the advice and hand flying into & out of most other places. I was already doing that, actually, because I enjoy it. I sent in a decent enough resume, I think, and a cover letter a few months ago. Previous experience also includes TT throughout N, S, and Central Am for a Fed agency. Former mil ATC as well. No call yet. If any K insiders here have a suggestion of what more I might be able to do to improve my chances for an interview, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Finally, a very worthwhile, positive, and meaningful post.
Thanks ocskyguy!

So, brothers and sisters, I ask you...
Are you playing to the evaluators? Or, being yourself?
If you answer the former, you may get hired but hate what you get. If you answer the latter and you do get hired, then you just got a great job.
Whether it is a stepping stone to greater things. Or, a career that you want to keep (BTW, 25+ years and a single digit seniority number), you will still fit in and have fun.
Remember the prime rules of being an airline pilot:
1) Do the least amount of sh#t for the most money.
2) Be smarter than the airplane.
3) Enjoy your job.
K4 is a challenging and interesting place to work. Some days are a blast. Some are endless grief. But, I wouldn't trade the ride for any other job (additional BTW, have turned down majors and some primo foreign carriers to stay here).
Show up to the interview. Be nice. Be smart. Take the stupid test. Answer the questions. Then, bring your best hands and your A Game to the sim. And, be yourself...
Just sayin'

Does anyone know who the jumpseat coordinator is at Kalitta? The union never came and talked to our new hire class, and many of us are trying to figure out how to jumpseat on SWA. They now have a mandatory online listing tool apparently
