Not to bring dreaded politics into this, but.....

It's an $85 billion cut from a $1.8 TRILLION discretionary budget. Do they really need to furlough safety-related personnel OR is it politics to scare the public?

I'm betting on the latter,

GF

The Administrator said that a VAST majority of the 47,000 employees would be furloughed. If ATC is in on the cuts then we aren't betting we are spared; though scare tactics certainly crosses the mind from time to time. It is a scuttlebutt rich topic!

Furlough will be by seniority within the office, but it isn't like an airline furlough for at least permanent employees.
There will be furlough days. Maximum of 2 days per pay day, minimum of 1 per pay day.
Yes, I was referring to ASIs. When you say permanent employees does that mean something? Like are you only a permanent employee after your first year?

Yes. We are all made temporary employees initially. Personally I was made permanent at the one year anniversary. You can remain temp for any number of years.
Disregard anything I said about furloughs and such then within the office. I have no idea how a FSDO might handle the staffing/furlough issues.

Well, that's a LONG story for another time, however the short answer would be NO!

I have a grand plan in my mind for the future, that Jimbo can share with you, or if your around the "Fed Cafe" next month we can meet for lunch?

Someone pointed out on ABC or NBC the other day that even with the $85 billion "cut", the government is still spending $15 billion more this year than it did last year. So the real question is why the world is coming to an end even though they will be spending more than they did last year? Politics as usual I guess.

Absolutely!
Let me know when you are back on town.
I'm doing two trips a month for the next few months so I should certainly be around at some point.

Sounds like a plan. I'll be there from the 4th through the 29th. I'm hoping the weather will be as warm this time as it was in January.

I looked at this, and am going to scale back. Currently, my monthly expenses are app. $2000. If I use the same ratio as above, that comes to $.06. Six cents! Once per month, I will leave one scoop of coffee out of the filter.

It appears that all of the GS-1825 Inspector positions scheduled to close in May, closed yesterday. Sneaky Pete, didn't see that coming.
