I was told that they may be accepting a 135/121 PC or AQP CQ held in the last 12 months in lieu of The Seminole/B737 ride. It had been in the works pre-Covid. Hopefully that will be sped along now that Covid is making things harder to accomplish these kinds of things. Not sure if you fall into this category.

That would make a lot of sense. Having to show up and fly the Seminole after not having flown a piston twin in decades kind of sucked, even though I was very proficient in turbine aircraft. Let them get you up to speed in a Seminole after your strings.

Hahahha. It had been roughly 32 years since I had been in a Seminole when I took my pre-employment ride. I had been doing 61.58 checks in jets almost every six months prior but I got evaluated on steep turns in a Seminole. Only after you work hear do you grasp that hardly anything at all you do will make any sense.

At least the maneuvers that you are being evaluated on are the type of flying that you may be responsible for as a GA ASI and the same profile that you will fly when you return for you proficiency flying IIRC.
My part of the flight program recently used KAFW Flight Program for our pre-employment evaluation too and it has NOTHING to do with the type of flying that we do or that is important to us; it was just done due to available people and assets.
I wonder how much longer KAFW Flight Program is even going to be around. Two of the guys that use to fly there were with us for awhile and they were both of the opinion that the end is in sight for the program.

As a GA guy we think they’re trying to keep us out of airplanes. But, someone has a fiefdom down there and they seem hell bent on protecting it.

But I second what you say MXLG. I've been hearing now for a few years that AFS wants you GA ASIs out of the cockpits; further cementing the rumor control that KAFW can see the end of the tunnel.

Did you by chance already have the National FAA interview screening? Are you waiting for an interview from the CMO’s? Was this the USAJOBS or On The Spot (OTS) hiring route? Answer to any or all are appreciated!
