Agree. The Bose A20 mike is annoyingly loud with background noise. Of course, the majority of people who have them never turn their ICS off.

I've noticed that too. I have the DC ONE-X (over-ear version of the Pro-X) and love them. They also have a pretty loud I/C mic noise though. Other than that they take up less room than the A20, have more passive sound deadening (passive+NC might be slightly better on the A20 but it's close), and are slightly cheaper. The DCs also come with bluetooth (I've used it a couple times to see if it worked but it has no use on the FD) if that's important to you.

You guys don’t have the option of talking to dispatch (or whomever) over your iPad? That’s the perfect use for it, and it’s awesome.

Shoot man...as soon as we got rid of the airside kit, I’m able to stow my roller bag and set my flight kit on top of it.

The comparable crappiness between the Airbus and 737 really decreased.

I'll add to the QC35/ufly. Couldn't be happier with it. My first couple months on the 737 I used a telex 850....Too loud.

Our iPads have a data plan but I have no idea if we can do that, it would be awesome though!

Full disclosure - ClarityAloft guy here. One thing I would ding most all Bose headsets models over is encouraging the "Whispering Captain/Co-Pilot" phenom. Apparently, their side-tone is so much better than what comes out over the ICS, that they don't feel much need to speak in anything above hushed tones....and a 737 cockpit is no place for hushed tones, even with a hot-mic. Or maybe I'm just slowly going deaf....

“What?”

Twelve years in the 737, seven more to go. Nobody whispers on the 737 flight deck.

18 months ago I bought the A20 to replace the 850. I am very pleased with this solution. It is a bit bulky, but my future hearing is worth that cost.
