Yes. I live well below my means. I own no toys. Well, I just recently bought a share in an aerobatic airplane. I don't have a "vacation house" on the lake. I still live in the same house we bought 25+ years ago. My kids are grown and out of college. I have grandkids now. I've been in the industry for quite sometime. I've lived it. I've been fortunate in my timing in some cases. However, I truly understand the volatility in this industry. I'm still married to my first wife (now going on 35 years). I saved and invested, I have an LLC for my side gig that I started about 22 years ago. I have plenty invested and set aside for my retirement because I planned for it. I understand life happens, but that shouldn't be cause to take it out on those junior to us. Be a man, deal with your life. Don't crap on others for what's happened to you. That's being selfish, narcissitic and down right mean.

Yeah, I think it’s finally run its course. She was a good thread. She lasted longer than anyone thought she could. We are probably in the last handful of pages now.

Or is it the horror movie where the monster keeps coming back to life, in this case a greedy guy in a pilot uniform😂

if homeboy commutes he better buy tickets to work the last 4 years of his career… Since almost 41 years at NWA / Delta isn’t quite enough for him… Dirt Bag.

My guess is the letter ensures that the senate committee doesn’t pass the Blackburn amendment to include age 67 in the reauthorization this week. It also gives cover to supporters of the standalone LEPF act to not fight to add it in the full senate.

A floor amendment is certainly still possible, or an agreement in conference, but it seems far less likely than 24 hours ago.

I'm making a point... "safer is better" isn't always practical.

In 121 we actually already have a benchmark number: 10^-9

They should try to align retirement age with that. Even then it might not be practical, but we don't know.

Because of the FAA? They are the tail, not the dog. They may have been emboldened by the union letter, like others I'm surprised they stepped up.

But they oppsed 65 too IIRC.

I would say it's not the FAA letter, but this quote that's the death knell:

"When it comes to raising the pilot retirement age, the FAA has made clear that a scientific and safety analysis must come first. That has not happened. Aviation safety is paramount, and now is not the time to take a shortcut," said Senator Maria Cantwell, the committee chair.
