there are more, and not just at the regional level. But my point isn’t to discuss that specifically, just that our US aviators aren’t immune to this, especially if they aren’t trained for it specifically.

SWA at BWI a few years back. Down to 88 knots and 30 degrees pitch up on a go around. You read that right.

Haha. Our safety snapshots read like a horror story sometimes.

Jeebus.

It's like there's some kind of anti-competition out there to see just how slow a 737 can go and still remain airborne.

I think there was a gnarly one also out of MDW. Could've been a takeoff but something similar.
yes there is some pretty scary **** out there but nothing as egregious as the max crashes. IMO

Meh. The night before the Lion Air crash, the airplane had the same problem. The two managed to stay alive, and the jumpseater pointed out at the trim wheel and recognized it as a runaway trim. Said crew flew entire way to Jakarta with CA side stick shaker going off. Said crew lived. They also wrote the problem up in a horrendous manner that never explained the true gravity of their situation. Next flight was the accident flight.

88kts on a go around that is practiced constantly is more egregious than a mishandling of an unknown and unannunciated failure mode.

imho

The story goes that it was a missed approach and they both went heads down into the FMC on the go around to check their fuel state for a possible diversion to the alternate. Whatever. Inexcusable, not that I’m implying that I’m infallible.

So just to be accurate, it was a missed approach in IMC not a visual go around.
