And just to clarify, Average days off = days not home. So I did not count my 10 day paid vacation layovers as "days off", but I did count gateway travel days as days on. |

Alaska 9th year FO
$239k "earnings" total + 25k DC PS was 8K/ "Retro/Signing bonus" was 28k included in that DC was only 25k since I added 15k in After Tax 401k to reach 61k IRS limit early (You guys that had exactly 40.5k company contributions and have the After tax/Roth conversion available need to speak to your tax advisor) Averaged 18/19 days off living in base doing 6.5-7.5 straight pay day trips with occasional 2 day |

I had 5 bases this year. |
UAL Year 1/ Year 2
Narrowbody live in base $78k wages $~6500 per diem $12k 401k Around 300 block I think Mix of line and reserve and trying to spend less time working on the road. For new guys planning financially, you will likely make plenty more than I did. Also, another $300k or so from my hourly wage and shares in the contracting firm I work at and partially own. Although things have been good there, I am thinking of retiring and selling my shares and just flying. I live beneath my means like John Carr said and it is great advice. I could build seniority as an FO and pick a nice schedule that will work for me and my family and should be able to make enough money at the same time. Merry Christmas |

2nd year 747 FO guarantee with no premium pay is around 100k. So yeah, lots of OT and premium pay available in the last couple years but that could all change overnight. |

Every time I read this thread, I think about applying to SWA.

Atlas 8th Yr 747 Capt:
$450k gross $26.8k company 401k contribution ($476.8k total compensation) 740 hrs Average 15 days off per month. Worked a bit extra and sold back 2 out of 3 weeks vacation but I didn't miss them. Had quite a few full months off through bidding smartly. Surprisingly didn't feel like I worked terribly hard but then again a good portion of those hours were spent sleeping in the bunk. |

I really don’t know why you’re so offended by my post. You asked for income and that’s what I gave you! And if it wasn’t for my ex wife and her greedy little hands, that number would be a bit higher. But you don’t see me complaining or getting upset like you did, do you?

B6
3 year FO (Bus) commuter 195k wages 31k 401k avg 14 days off a month picked up several premium trips first half of the year, nothing in the second half. Just jumped to a legacy for the ability to have a long drive to work. also 301k from my consulting gig. (I too like adding random income into airline pay discussions). |

ATI, 767 3 year FO $172,000 but worked ALOT extra this year. Blocked 661 hours. They offer 50% of up to 6% 401K match. I averaged 10 days off per month. Definitely other places seem more appropriate if you want to make extra $.

Won’t be working as hard this year. I don’t do 4-5 leg day trips. Avg is prob 2.5. Some days I’ll do 1-2. Some days I’ll do 2-3. Its not a WB type schedule…but I drive to work and don’t work holidays or weekends. |

I slightly exaggerated the numbers to highlight the point I was getting at, but yeah the math doesn’t add up in some of these posts. Atlas skipper 8yr banking $450K with 15 days off each month…? @ $276/hr, that’s 1650 credit hours for the year, 135/month. Takes a bit more than selling back vacay and picking up a trip here and there. As my Atlas buddy texted me in response: 15 days off a month doesn’t mean 15 days at home per month. Merry Xmas / Happy Holidays however y’all do it!
Hey the numbers are the numbers, man. Just reporting what I did. I didn't count gateway days but I live close enough to base to drive. No matter what airline you work for that's the key to fine living. Just helps that Atlas only makes you do it once a month so you can drive a lot farther. That plus quite a few months of deadheading direct from home to an outstation on day 1 (or 2...) and it really adds up. |
