black card (invitation only to get, spend in excess 100k annually I think) gets you out of line and just talk to the host (aka line monitor)

What kind of ticket you have makes no difference to centurion lounge. You could have spirit and the guy next to you could have emirates first class. Same line

Priority pass (included with Platinum card) makes up for not being able to get into the Centurion Lounge and Delta Sky Club as a non-rev. Priority pass lounges are nicer overseas too compared to the states

So I should be able to list for a 8 AM nonrev flight I have zero chance of making, for $0, then come into the Centurion lounge and take up space and eat and drink all day long for free, and come back every single day? Right alongside the actual traveler who actually paid money for their ticket and is actually trying to use the lounge to make their travel easier? That doesn't seem like a great system to me.

To access a centurion lounge, they scan your BP and need to see a seat assignment. Even revenue standby tickets don't get you access. You can try to sweet talk the reception people, that works sometimes.
But a non-rev who has a seat and a boarding pass gets in no problems.
