I have some custom shoes the VA made me in the prosthetics shop that fit but are ugly as hell and the Oxford style kitchen shoes that are the only other thing that's lasted has now attracted the ire of an LCA who has brought it to my attention hat "the soles on those are not FOM compliant"
RM Williams has some hobbit feet options. Not cheap, but worth every penny in my opinion. You can also email them with your specific foot shape and voice concerns preemptively.

I have only worn Ecco shoes since shortly after 9/11. I am on my 5th pair now. So 5 pairs in 25 years, roughly. And my current pair is new, so really 4 pairs in almost 25 years.

i got one bad pair, they literally disentegrated on my first trip with them. Clearly a manufacturing error. I emailed Ecco and sent a picture, they said go online and pick any pair you want as an exchange, and mailed it off to me. So very reasonable customer service the one time I’ve had a problem.

I know there are lots of good brands out there, but I’m happy with Ecco, so why change?

Really? Wow…

Both of my AEs a J&Ms are at least 10 years old each, very little maintenance required over the years.
After sales support is solid as well.

I’ve got a pair of Blundstones and a pair RM’s. One is good and one is great. The RM are more comfortable and visibly better made. They also come in half sizes and have a wide option. On the other hand, the RM’s are nearly twice the price (RM Turnout boot vs Blundstone Heritage 152). In an ideal world I’d buy the RM as a dress/work boot for life and the Blundstones for f/ing around. Of course, I did it the other way around.

And you guys think boots year round is comfortable temperature wise? I’ve never done it. I just ordered some RMs, yes it’s expensive but for it being a shoe I wear half (since I work that much now &#129315 the year I’m ok with that

I’ve worn Ecco Chelsea boots through the summer and haven’t had any trouble. They aren’t all that much warmer than a regular shoe and then I can wear one pair all year. I just wear lightweight pants and shirts.

I wear Blundstone's and really enjoy them. Very comfortable, looks nice, easy slip on, and can pass for normal off-duty to limit the items in my overnight bag. We can expense footwear so every ~2 years I can refresh them on company money. As much as I like the idea of a fine quality shoe that can be redrafted (own multiple Allen Edmonds), the fun mix of fluids on the ramp seems to just cause havoc on anything that touches them. They have insulated and special sole options if you frequent places like Anchorage often. Also they have a Pro Program if you're a veteran, pretty good discount.

Maybe when I'm a CA and never have to do the walk around, I'll get some RM Williams.

do you have the wide toe version ?

I currently have one and one of my co workers was looking for one and I guess it’s discontinued.

I have the Jamestown which looks like it’s been discontinued. The Helsinki Chelsea looks fine but has very little tread so I don’t think I’ll stay with Ecco for my next pair.
