But don't get me wrong. Delta should be taking care of a hotel for training, and I hope that gets changed. I don't want to give the impression that I'm saying "it's okay because it's worse elsewhere." This just doesn't fit with the rest of the classy setup here.

Likewise, I hope that the other legacies don't leave their new hires out in the cold again as their contracts come up for negotiation in the coming years. However, I'm sure that $1/hr more for 12-year 777 or 747 captains would be enough of a carrot for them to trade the $20/hr or so raise that their new pilots deserve. Remember that, year two and three guys, when you're called on to vote, and think about more than the short term personal gain when you ponder how the quality of the people you can attract will make your life easier if they earn an appropriate wage. All of these carriers are earning enough to return pay to where it belongs for all of their pilots.

Gents,

1. Any news on if the Dec 3 class will be all JFK 7er or some other categories/bases?

2. How does it work with secondary vacancies - the AE shows vacancies, then people who are on the property bid and only then you get a real picture where the new hires will really go, right?

Life - I'm not an authority, but to answer your questions:

1. Looks like all NY 7ER for 12/3. If you have, or get, that date it would be an appropriate question to ask Mr. B.
2. New hires will be placed in the positions that other pilots do not bid in the AE. But there is more to the process than that. Delta is placing some new hires in the more desired positions to avoid going short on the least desired positions. This also helps them avoid repeat training cycles. For instance, early 07 hires on the 88 in JFK were held as long as possible in New York while new hires were going straight to the 767 category in ATL. Currently they have only posted only 10 openings on the 767 in ATL. Consider there are around 80 to 90 pilots with 767 ATL bid, but 40 something of those openings have been filled by new hires in recent months.

It is logical that Delta would not want to staff NYC with all new hires. But, there are those of us wanting the Boeings in ATL, waiting, while new hires get "our" desired bid positions. With future advanced entitlements it will all work out in the wash.

In the future if Delta slows growth it could be a difficult wait while someone junior to you enjoys better trips and pay. Bid quality of life if that is your priority. If pay is your priority, probably better to bid it sooner rather than later.

Default DL AirlineApps Question

I know it's not really the right thread, but i'm completing the airlineapps for DL, and there's one question that asks:

"1. Have you ever completed an application with Delta?"

Should I answer Y or N? I know they are very very meticulate in screening all the info, so I'm trying to do right.

Thanks

I think the implication is, "...before this one."

I am pretty sure that you're not going to be in the middle of your interview and someone says, "Now explain this to me... It says here that you've never completed an application with Delta, but clearly this is an application, so what do you have to say for yourself? Are you a pathological liar, or just illiterate?"

They want to know if you have tried to hire on sometime in the past.

During my DAL interview, the DAL HR (*********) asked me why I went to two different high schools. He suggested that I had behavioral problems because I went to two different high schools. How about we moved out of district?

You may never know who you may be interviewing with at DAL... so I applaud a person who asks any questions that may help him/her get past some eccentric "over-exaggerated perceptio" of an over the hill idiot HR (hitler reject) nazi party groupie ice hole.

Disclaimer: My statement is directed to one hr guy.... from what I understand many others have had better experiences with other HR interviewers.

It can probably happen in any interview where they are trying to see how you handle stress. It's the same as them nitpicking 10 hours in your logbook when you've got 3000 over the minimums. My guess is they do that because they want to see how you react.

By the way, what was this thread about?

So did you tell him you moved out of district or did you assume he thought you had behavioral problems because that was really the reason you switched schools? If you didn't have behavioral problems why would you assume that is what he thought unless he told you that which I am 99% certain he didn't?
