737 has been in operation for 35 years the NG has been in operation for 10, out of the 35 years the 737 has been in operation the last 10 have accounted for half the sales, that means since the A320 has come into service the 737 has increased its sales per year. its real simple, its called math.

I will try to put the same point ive been trying to get across to you as simple as possible.
Pre 1988- the 737 had the leading market share for its type of aircraft.
After 1988- The 737 lost the lead market share to the A320.
Going from the higher market share to the lower market share= a decline
The 737 has lost MARKET SHARE! this is due to the A320!

The number of sales does not denote the quality of the aircraft. While both aircraft have their merits... its a matter of choice. Some will argure that the later air buses were designed for those who love to push buttons and not fly... while the 737 NG was designed for those pilots who want to have the option of flying the jet or pushing buttons with the same features as the bus.
All airplanes are great... its just that some are greater than others.
Come on... lets face it... the bottom line is about the pay check.

DC8 hands down! Gives new meaning to the term "heavy". It is amazing to me how many of these pumps have an overide function.

I know alot of pilots hate trying to deal with all the new technology of the airbus, but I found the airbus 100 times easier to fly than even small private planes.

I am a steak and potatoes guy. I don't fly either but, the Bus is more appealing to me because you can hook it up to a laptop and it is just so automated and I love the Joystick. Its just like a video game, except no reset if you crash. The older flight instructors at my flight school have problems with using the GNS430's that one of our A/C have. The younger guys can figure it out a lot quicker. I guess its a generation thing. We grew up on computers.
