The CAL guys could bypass recall if they took the furlough, but if they took the flow-back they could not bypass and had to come back to CAL when they got the recall.

If you accrue longevity while at Compass and can bypass recall and stay at Compass, I think alot more guys would take the flow back.
I believe that the LOA states that you are given one option to flow up, and if you turn it down, you stay at CPZ and are protected (up to 10% of the list) from further flow backs. However, I don't think you get offered another chance to flow up.

Anyone else have more info on this?

That may be true for Compass hires, but the question had to do with furloughees flowing down and then bypassing recall. I would tend to think that the recall provisions in our contract would apply, which means you can bypass a recall. The only thing that happens is your longevity at mainline freezes.

That is for original Compass guys. I'm talking about a Delta guy who gets furloughed and flows down to Compass then gets recalled back to Delta. If we just take the furlough, we can bypass for up to 10 years. This allows you to stay out until you can come back to the base and position that you want. Just wondering if we can bypass recall and stay at Compass until we want to come back. Doesn't say anything in the LOA about that. Hopefully we are all just wasting our time even talking about this and the flow down will never be seen. It really does suck for everyone involved when that happens.

We had 4 NWA flowdowns at the top of our list when I started here. Three of them are still here, having bypassed recall as long as they could, which wasn't that long under the NWA contract. One of them I talked to was kinda relieved when NWA stopped the recalling/hiring just before he had to go back. Got the feeling he didn't really want to go back while his number held a junior DC9 line. If you can bypass recall at Delta for 10 years, I don't see anything in our contract/LOA that seems to indicate you have to go back up when they offer recall.

In the same sense, if a DL guy is bypassing recall can DL still hire around him? If so can the next junior CP guy flow up?

I would think so. If they offer, and he/she bypasses recall, then I'm sure they would offer up the class slot to whomever was next in line.
