What are your displacement preferences?

You think they are going to move all the 88s out of ATL? No way. What would feed the widebodies? Move some..yes...some 88s out of SLC to the north...and replace them with 320s with better perf. Yes.

On the bid template, look at the percentage bid like this: If you put in 90% you are saying you want to be in the top 90% and will have 10% below you. If you want to have a good chance of holding a regular line, I would bid 75 to 80 percent. That way you would have at least 20 to 25 percent below you.

I apologize if this has already been asked, but is there a way to put in a VD ONLY if I can't hold a line in my current category. I am NYC 7 ER B holding a line, but with all the expected movement into this category from senior guys, can I have a VD into another category to keep me off of reserve on NYC 7 ER B?
It seems like all the preferences are for the category you are going in to, not limiting where you want to sit in your current category or else leave the category altogether.

ACL, is that an accurate take?

Great question...and I don't have an answer. From talking with the captains I've been flying with, their advice is to bid an AE/VD if you want to move and bid an MD if you don't want to move but hope for the next best outcome. So, don't bid an AE/VD unless you have higher goals. Put in an MD to protect you if in fact you are displaced.

Everyone is accurate here. If you want to move out of your equipment, all freezes are lifted. Just bid what you want through either a VD or MD and you may get it. If you are hoping not to move, like me, enter only MD preferences. The difference between an MD and VD is that with an MD there is no seat lock. To make sure you get a line with a VD or MD, enter the percentage column on the choices in DBMS. Typically if you are at least 20% from the bottom you would enter 80% in the column. This means that if you can be at least 80% on the list, which should be a lineholder, you are willing to move. Or if forced to move in an MD, you want to only seek out categories that you can maintain that 80% or better.
Eventually, they run out of guys and the junior ones go to whatever openings are left regardless of their preferences. That's the problem most people don't realize. If you don't like where you are at and are in a seatlock, bid a VD and you may be able to move off your equipment whereas guys senior to you waiting for an MD may stay where they are and just move down in seniority.

I think it went something like bidding the first line of the VD to your current category at the percentage you wanted to be no less than and then where you want to go after that. There is know easy way to do this and I dont know if this will work or not. Double check the thread on the DALPA forum. I guess we'll find out on the 15th!! Good luck to all!!
