We don't! We just wait for ATC to ask us where we are going, give them a VOR on the flight plan, then they just give us a heading! Eventally we find the airport!

I still have that Map!

I would take a left seat in the 9 anywhere in the system. Now it would have to be ATL or MEM in the right! For now I am senior enough not to have to worry about that.
Heck the e-120 at least had alt hold.

How do you know what the winds are? I guess you could use the flight plan for an estimate.

True Story:

ATL APP: Northwest 123 are you equipped to take direct ERLIN?
NWA123: Negative Sir, we're bankrupt

Best answer I've ever heard on the radio!

She doesn't have auto level off. You have to level off with the vertical speed wheel. She does have altitude hold though. It helps a little. The FO has to use the turn knob, as his/her heading bug will not command the AP. It's good for the brain.

That's how its done. Look at the flight plan for an estimated GS as that's your only way to calculate your 3:1 glide path. If all else fails, just go down. Better to be early then late.

Heh. Spoken like a man in the furlough-proof side of the list, no doubt.

I agree though. Heck, I'm not too old to start over in another career anyway, and the whole "moving goalposts" thing with the airlines is getting really, really old.
