What I also find interesting is CAL's preference to have NO commuters, yet thinks everyone who was recently hired and BOUGHT a place up in the northeast is going to be so happy to sell in the worst housing market in decades and move to IAH. Yeah, right..........

More than a few of us were either DEN LAX HNL IAD or GSO in the past. Many moved from one closing base to avoid the commute, only to have that closed too. Maybe they'll just close EWR to teach us one final lesson.

From the looks of it, this downbid is going to cause a LOT of training events. Guess the airline must find that to be cheap. Thanks to the over 60 guys for hanging around and not planning for their retirement. Seems like this is one of the few careers where you seem to spend more time going backwards than forwards.................

OK, so our Chairman says the lawyers tell him we cannot do anything about it because the courts are too mean to labor. Oh, but if you want you can omplain to the CPO. Please.

Last year they continued hiring FAs as we scrambled to avoid sending "500" pilots to the street. We ended up tossing 147 pilots to the curb. Now here we are a year later and when this whole new furlough thing started to unfold it was made clear early on that "NO flight attendant furloughs" were going to occur. Now we have a system bid that chops EWR 737 and sends a majority of the leftovers to IAH. And what of the EWR FA's? Nothing.

This reaks of Status Quo violation.

Boneman, Have you personally actually inquired about that to Pierce?

Did you REALLY think they were ever going to furlough FAs?? The lowest ones on the chopping block were those hired as Mandarin speakers for Shanghai. So what do you want to bet the number of actual COLAs for FAs is WELL south of the 600-700 they said they needed to avoid furloughs? Somehow "the numbers" were made to work with however many actually applied. I have a few FA friends who stated they were going to start counting up the COLAs to find out how many were taken since all they heard from the company was they "had enough" so as not to have to furlough any FAs.

And why is it the company throws us 18- and 19- month COLAs but the FAs get 4-, 5- and 9-month options?

Yes and no direct reply as yet. Only his statement in the MEC Update so I don't suspect I'm the only one who's asked the question.
