Every time I go to work, I go with a smile on my face.
Good on you ! I mean that sincerely !

Inferior contract (when put next to the other majors/legacies/SWA), guys on furlough, guys flying 90+ hours with guys on furlough, and the company made money last quarter. No money being passed on to the pilot group, and no recalls.
What dat dude said!!! It sucks! Its not the furlough part or the poor wages..its the fact that your OWN TYPE will ***** out for open time with folks on the street!! Do your homework before you bail to a different carrier..I wish I would have. This b.s. would NOT be going down at ual or dal..that is a FACT!!

Im currently furloughed from my 3rd Airline, which is Spirit. But I have in my past, jumpseated on DAL, UAL, and AA. All 3 of these carriers had guys on furlough and many times I was with crews picking up Open Time. Your FACT is BS! Everyone is out for them selves.

Be careful when you say Everyone..that is generalizing. Believe it or not there are SOME cal drivers with ethics, just not enough. By referring to ual or dal, I know there would be a lot more noise towards those who kept getting their knees dirty. They have called out people in the past, i guess not the people you js'd with though.

JDFlyer --

Excellent posts. I agree with most of what you say. Surely there are many who find their Company a great place to work, and enjoy most every trip. To each their own.

I've been around the block in this business and found my SWA interview, their people, and HQ to be a breath of fresh air. SWA isn't for everyone but for many it is a great place to call "home" -- I truly look forward to finishing my career flying red bellied aircraft.

Happily treading water; biding my time until the call.

Default Nice discussion, mostly

Yet another version of the "don't be naive, they're all the same" cliche. No, they're all different. What are all the same are people who will be unhappy no matter where they are; then they're all the same - to you. And what's also the same is trying to reconcile one's own bitterness by trying to bring others down as well. Nice job not taking the bait, folks.

Some people pick up open time because they have a family to think about. God forbid if you feed your family.

God forbid you live within the means of your monthly guarantee!!!
The rest is gravy. There are others trying to ACTUALLY feed their family (not the SUV, or boat, or whatever,...), on unemployment, COBRA, etc., while people are picking up "extra money".
IMO.
