I updated the table above, thanks, every other row of the Captain table was looking at a blank rate increase over the miserly 5% I had inserted.

I wonder what it'd look like if I did a 20% bump 1st year, 5% thereafter...
If you do that off the 2012 rates you hit 344 an hr in the last year of the PWA. I did that about 500 pages ago on the Latest thread.

Just as a point of discussion, why should the 73, 320 and MD 88/90 have the same pay rates? Each equipment type has a different use and potentially very different destinations. There's also a huge difference in capabilities and training objectives. Should we have only wide-body pay and narrow-body pay rates? That would rock the AE process.

I'm all for that buzz and it would be great in that you'd bid a plane based on what if offered and seniority and take pay out of the equation. And why in the world is the 88 and 90 different pay because of 10 seat difference between aircraft (which is changing) but the 744 and 777 are the same with a 140 seat difference?

It'd be interesting to see how that would shake out in an AE.

These rates of pay look pretty good, however, one item I'd like to see is retro-active pay to the current contract's amendable date. I'm pretty tired of 2-4 year time frame of negotiating a contract, when it suits management's needs. Both groups negotiated a BK contract in a matter of weeks, no reason we can't do the same in the '12 contract, when the time comes.

Your rates are correct. I added another year to the chart in the other thread.

As for the 777/744 rates; They are that way due to the efficiency of the 777 and the fact that the 744 was to be phased out. (Some not all the factors)

Chuck, we all want that, and we should shoot for 5% or COLA which ever is greater and then at least COLA after the amendable date.

Oh, I agree FTB. It amazes me that our industry has such vastly different remuneration for essentially flying from point A to point B regardless of experience/quals/etc. If our pay was based stricly on that, I'd be rolling large based on my previous military international experience which, I wager, could go toe-to-toe with any legacy international 777, 747 or AB 380 guy. Bring that on.

Instead, I'm a CONUS-flying 73N FO working it hard and hitting it big with some great captains.

But, and here's a big caveat in my mind. If we are going to fend off the Costco/Walmart approach to being pilots, then we can't bow down to every LCC in the market who wants to make us them. I've got some great buddies at SWA. Can I imagine SWA connecting Singapore to Dehli? Hell no. Can I imagine Lufthansa or BA doing t? Hell yeah.

So, where does the American company check in. Sky Team, World Alliance? We, as American commercial pilots, have finally got to weigh in. Its not about SWA or JB. Know 'em. Love 'em. Our fight now is with the gobal predators and competitors.

Call for push or forever hold your peace. Our industry is dying. Hell, my nextdoor Wii playing 15 year-old will soon be able to do what I've spent 30 years doing. He won't have to deal with ADFs or VORs....

I missed this post somehow, my computer didn't show this one and a couple of others until now. Odd. It shows some but not all and then I go off posting and not responding.

I know. The problem with aviation is everyone is burning candles from both ends. The thing about the Costco/Walmart business model is its all about volume and controlling the supply chain but for us the supply chain kills us and for our suppliers we and their suppliers kill them and we have too much volume.

Around where I live I've watched a ton of restaurants both fast food and sit down go out of business in the past two months, not the last year, the past two months. A burrito place called Moes, several BBQ joints, several large chain restaurants and so forth. What survives and typically has the 100A ratings to boot? McDonalds, Chic-fil-a (helps to have God on your side), Five Guys and Jason's Deli type places. Is that where we're headed? I don't know but I bet its the fast food model investors and debt holders demand because they trust it to work. I think its where we're headed but with a $1B going to create an upstairs sit down room for our best customers which is serving the same food but better.
