Delta New Hires/Class Dates/Cleared to Train
#151
There was a CAL thread with pilots battling a crowd there that will max out their schedule while furloughing and don't mind showing furloughed pilots their 98 hour line they just built for themselves.
I am with Scoop, I am morally against extra flying with pilots on furlough.
As to pilot sob stories, deleted... too unique of a story and easy to figure out who is who. Just know, you'd be ****ed too.
---
When will hiring resume btw, what is the plan as of right now?

OK guys, what happened to this thread? Talk about thread creep!
Most of your comments here about not saving and extravagant lifestyles refer to the guy in the left seat. I would offer that it is not a function of which seat you are in. That just happens to be the folks you are flying with. There are/have been F/Os that have the same issues. They are the ones that become the CAPT that you are flying with.
There are some obviously bright folks posting on here (don't count me) and unfortunately everyone isn't that fortunate. Reaching retirement age with some pension money (DAL or military) is an excellent situation, but not putting away money of your own while working is foolish.
Now, what is going on with the hiring?

Any other bypass guys out there coming back in the Sept 6th class? If so, have you got your info or packet yet? Just trying to figure out when/what to expect in this process. Any info on how it went down from the other returning furlough guys in class now would be great. Thanks.

I have a buddy in the August 16th class, this is their drop. Last 4 digits of "999" would be the highest seniority in terms of choice for this first pick.

As one of the guys in the pool (offered a job, but I'm not available till next Summer) I'm obviously hoping for the hiring to continue. What do you experienced DAL-ers think about this idea?
Caveat 1: I'm blessed to be in a position to be able to pick lifestyle over $.
Caveat 2: Don't want to commute to reserve (we'll suffer the inconvenience of an extra move or two instead).
Plan 1:
- Move fam to MSP/DTW (CVG?) and rent a place an hour or so from the airport for a few years while I sit Reserve.
- Once I can hold a reasonable line, swap to NYC and commute from New England - looking to settle within driving distance of MHT (BOS if I have to).
Plan 2:
- If the economy keeps the real estate in the tank in the area North of NYC, just start out in NYC and move the fam there from the get go.
M88 seems like a good platform for both plans, and I've got a bit of an affinity to twin-engined MacD jets anyhow.
Again, I know this is cart before the horse and all could change tomorrow (story of my life), but what say the old craniums?

I can hold a good line in MSP M88. I commute. I bid resv, I hardly ever work. So don't move just b/c of Resv. Just like bidding bid what you want what u bid. Live where u want to live. Resv is not that bad. It's great right now in MSP on M88.

Having said that, MSP on the MD would be good, had a lot of vacancies there on the last bid but if you have plans to go to the NE, I think NYC will always be junior because of the three hub coverage requirement and the COL. Remember you only have to cover one airport within approx 2 hours on SC, so if you can do that and not commute to reserve your QOL goes up dramatically!!
