t, you're right.

But let me ask you this.

If 1900 guys have cared enough to actually do something to replace ALPA, by turning in a card, what does it say about DPA if only 2 of those have been willing to actually do something BEYOND just turning in that card?

1900 cards; 2 base reps. DPA will fail if those, who support it most fervently aren't willing to do ANY of the heavy lifting.

Seems harmless to me, only 1900 pilots of 12,000 would vote them out right? So there is nothing for ALPA to fear and the idea of the DPA would be washed aside. It's a win win.

Right?

Very interesting idea... but like term limits in DC.. it'll never even be talked about, much less considered...

Well I think those 1900 are just a little more fervent in their distaste of alpa than the average line guy. Who knows? maybe if alpa were to be sent packing, some of those 1900 WOULD step up.

So, we're all supposed to trust our careers to a "maybe"?

I think that's exactly it. Caplinger's upset he was furloughed twice and told to back off when he went on his rivet crusade. The other organizers I've met all think ALPA is ignoring their clearly superior ideas for getting a great contract. They tell me all we have to do is be willing to shut the airline down anytime the company doesn't give us exactly what we want - and the money will flow. They are frustrated that their simple plan for forcing the company, courts, and government to do it our way is ignored by ALPA after the fifth time they scream it at their reps.

According to them - The 24% that voted AGAINST C2K? ALPA screwed up by not listening to them. The 12% of NWA pilots who voted AGAINST the 10% pay raise in 2003? ALPA screwed up by not listening to them.

Being in the minority sucks. The DPA organizers are learning that fact once again. I wonder if they'll listen to what they're hearing this time. It's a pitter-patter...not a stampede.

While what you say has truth to it, you not surprisingly missed the point.

So, please enlighten us. What IS the point of DPA continuing an obviously failed attempt to replace ALPA?

Anger is not a strategy.

ALPA has effectively shown it has a conflict of interest in trying to represent regional carriers. It is structured to favor the highest influx of cash.

I predict a "fail" on the ALPA card drive.

You lose whatever credibility you may have when you characterize DPA supporters this way. While I suspect a few may fit your description, it is not by any means that black and white. And I think anyone looking at it objectively can see through your obvious attempt to smear the DPA effort and its supporters. IMO, you probably do more to help DPA by posting stuff like that.
