In short no, you are not committed to Jet Blue and you can leave whenever you wish. They used to have new hires sign a non-compeat clause that said you agreed to not go back to your previous employer for 2 years. I'm not sure if they are still doing that anymore. Hope that helps...

That helps, thanks! For me, the non-compete clause would mean I would not be allowed to rejoin the military, I suppose. Then again, if I'm a reservist and got mobilized, then surely that doesn't apply. I think that would be illegal, no?

I am sure that it would not apply to any military duty. It was at the time used to ensure that if JB trained you to fly a 320 or a 190, you wouldn't immediately return to the airline you just left/got furloughed from and bring that knowledge/experience you gained to a JB competitor.

I don't think a non-compete clause (if they have one) would apply to the military. As a reservist, the company must allow you to be available for any military obligation you have. They must also save your job for when you return.

There is no non-compete clause for new hires currently.

Actually, we are probably looking at around 250-300 new hires for the year 2011, contingent on fuel prices of course.
