Asher, Lake is all doom and gloom. He's ****ed because he's not at Delta. He'd be complaining there too. Bring the positive attitude to JBlue. Leave your worries at the doorstep. It's a fresh start and within my first year of 121 I couldnt believe the paranoia that exists. We do a job where we have fun flying airplanes and if we do an ok job we new we won't get called in by the boss and we go home 15 minutes after we're done. Talk to my buddies who make the same $ as a 2yr FO at JBlue and work 50-60hrs a week. That includes the boss calling about a PowerPoint on Sunday when the Pats are just about to kick off and the taco dip is ready. Perspective. JBlue is a good place to be, and Lake knows this or else he'd have gone back to CPZ for the flow promise from ALPA. He loves JBlue. He just passed on the Kool Aid. Puff, puff and give. That's the rotation. Go Pats!

I have never said JetBlue was a bad place. I like it here but I still plan on leaving. People need to know the facts. We have to many idiots, that's right I said it, that spew management speak day in and day out while trying to justify our low pay and benefits. We are a very profitable company. We have in the billions in terms of liquidity. But we pay our pilots below average wages. W provide well below average retirement. We provide the worst health insurance for a major. Our LTD will bankrupt a pilot. We are responsible for paying for our own merger protection. These are undeniable facts.
Then you have the clear rights who spew the culture bs as an excuse for our substandard benefits while management continues to reward itself. "Culture" doesnt pay the bills. Jetblue figured out long ago that if you had Bbq's for the employees on a holiday or provided pizza in the crew lounge from time to time people would forgo expecting raises or better benefits. Let me tell you, its worked. This is business boys and girls. You get what you negotiate. Unfortunately at JetBlue we have pilots who refuse to stand up for the ability to negotiate.
As in my other post look at the MIT study, look at the pay proposals JetBlue has put out, look at the flyers p osted during the last ALPA campaign. Take an honest look and see how far we are behind and I'm just asking for industry standard.
It sickens me. Clear right I hope you go out on disability soon so you can see what JetBlue culture is all about. Then call me and well exchange stories.

Asher888, Both Lake Alice and Clear Right are correct. This is a great place to work, the money is decent and my QOL has never been better. OTOH, our retirement, disability plans and health insurance definitely need improvement. In some cases significant improvement. The flaw in Clear Rights position is the company either has not responded to our needs or has responded only minimally and at a glacial pace.
This is the best job I've ever had either in or out of aviation but some key things still need to be improved.
BTW, I personally know 4 furloughed Delta guys at JetBlue. Three of the four live in or near ATL. None of them have any immediate plans to return to DAL. All of them are keeping their seniority number alive at DAL but mainly because that's just the smart thing to do in our business. All of them say the same thing. They can't afford the pay cut and it would take them way too long to catch up at DAL.

I don't want it to sound like I'm picking on CLear Right but we have a ton of pilots who come to work, don't get harassed, fly clean equipment and go home. This to them is culture. This is what we are supposed to forgo raises benefits for? I don't think so. If the airline is profitable reward those who help you get there. If the airline is not profitable make the necessary changes to get there. As we are profitable the leadership at Jetblue continues to handsomely reward itself meanwhile the CFO answered a question from an analyst, during the last analyst call, as to whether the pilots would be seeing a raise our dearest CFO responded "absolutely not".
How's that for culture.
Wake up new people.

It is beyond wrong to wish that someone else goes out on disability, for any reason. To wish it on someone just because he/she happens to disagree with you, is pathetic.

To the Phase II folks reading this, dont make the assumption that this is what everyday life on the line is like. I am sure even as strong as Lake Alice's posts are on here, he would be a pleasure to fly with and it would be a good atmosphere. Everyone I have flown with has been great. Dont let the message board banter get you down. Yes we have problems and things that need to be improved at the company, but that is the case anywhere. We are heading in the right direction and I am hopeful for the future.
Go Pats! (prediction time- Pats win 45-20)

Wow...so you are going to take what a few loud posters on an Internet forum say to deter you from taking a job at jetBlue? Seriously?

JetBlue management is no different from any other airline executive. Many of our pilots treat them like deities when in reality they are one bad decision away from the likes of a Crandall. Disability at JetBlue, which cost them less than any other benefit, is the true underbelly of this company coming to light.

Asher,
I've enjoyed it here and the "culture" or whatever you want to call it is good for the most part. I've flown with a great number of good folks here. However, with that said its good to be realistic and realize that we need to sack up and rally together as a pilot group to get better benefits/wages. I'm all for a good working experience, but not at the expense of being used by management under the pretense that a "work around" will occur while they grant stock bonuses to each other and then claim that there is no money for the pilot group.
You will enjoy it here, but don't drink the juice to heavily.
