Agreed. What will be more interesting to see is when relative seniority is the rulling, what happens then.

I try not to post too often here, but I would like to set the record straight. I have read every union reps postings, every forum thread and every article in our Union rag, and in NO WAY does anyone think we are going to get around AM or BM. Nobody at SWA actually believes there will be a true staple(although there are some that want it).

So hearing from an "acquaintence" that we are expecting this is a load of *******. Just cause your "buddy" may want something, doesn't mean anyone else thinks that way.

Just passing along what he told me. He said it all depends on how the purchase agreement was written. Something about buying just the holding company and not the airline. I told him it was futile to believe that and to look at our merger, that will be the model. Just an anecdote, not evidence of a movement.

What a naive way of thinking. Following the letter of the legislation, the standard is "fair and equitable". If you think the only method that fits that standard is relative, why wouldn't the legislation say "relative"?

The legislation specifically allows for the reality that each scenario will be different and no single standard can be applied for every case.

Relative is a pipe dream. Even date of hire is a windfall at the expense of the SWA pilots.

Career expectations are a non-starter in the LUV/AAI discussions no matter how much LUV pilots want them to be. In the case of Shuttle America, you had an airline whose life expectancy was measured in days.

Not so with AAI.

To clarify the misconception here...Guadalupe Holdings will be merged with Airtran Holdings, which will create a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines. If Southwest choses to operate this new company as a wholly-owned, and SWAPA agrees to waive the 24-month limit on this scenario, there is nothing requiring any SLI as Bond-McCaskill would not apply.

While this is not ideal for anybody, its an excellent way to ensure the Airtran pilots' "landgrab" mentality doesn't fracture the culture that has allowed SWA to enjoy its success for so many years.

The bottom line is this- Play nice and everyone wins. Enjoy the lottery!!

What's your reasoning? In my mind, this looks more like a test of Bond-McCaskill than a test of ALPA.
