Actual Airline Pay

UAL SUX, sorry for your misfortune in the airline industry. I'm a guy that likes to look on the bright side. You were obviously a highly qualified pilot both times you were furloughed. Did you try to jump anywhere else is much more lucrative? UPS,FedEx, SWA, China, Middle East?
I flew freighters for 8 years prior to being hired by UAL. I'm finished working 3rd shift. Not saying it's a bad job, just not for me. And there is no way I would uproot my wife and children and drag them halfway around the world just so I can continue to fly airplanes.

I'm not on the property anymore, so I really don't know. There were organized attempts to oust ALPA when I was there but they were unsuccessful.

... Student pilot here.
Hey all, I was accepted to ERAU for the fall and am looking at the full 6 year BS and Masters programs for professional pilot. Also looking at the price tag on the student loans. I know ERAU is expensive and thats not the point im going to,,, but if the market for pilots are that bad, as UAL SUX say, I would be looking at another school with a cheaper tuition. When looking at the idea of having a 300k debt and getting a 26k job out of school, man thats a VERY scary idea.
Any ideas on other companies and rates would be greatly appreciated.

Don't spend $300k on 'pilot' degrees/training!!!!!!!
Having said that, if you want to fly, that's fine. Just don't get Pro Pilot degrees. Take the advice in this thread, diversify. Get a degree in another industry you are interested in (you'll need it when you get furloughed) and fly on the side. I wish I had that kind of advice when I went to college. I've been furloughed twice and I'm not even 30 yet.

I couldn't agree more...to add to that, ask around where people actually went to gain their ratings/licenses. There are a lot of schools that will drag out your training and milk you for many thousands more than another school to gain the same ratings.
