Actual Airline Pay

There have been some discussions about airline pilot pay on this forum recently. In light of this I though it would be enlightening to post a little fact versus fiction. Yep, that does suck. You're being very nice about not counting what UAL got from you when they terminated the pensions, though. When you factor that in, you probably worked there for nothing.
I have not been furloughed, but it was at my 22 year point where I'd gotten to the point where my W-2s added up to more than the stole from me.
Beer's on me when (or if) you come back.

Thanks TW.
The point of this post is not to ask for sympathy, it's to shine a light on the cockroach that the airline profession really is. And you already know this, but it's important for anyone else reading this to understand that I'm not an anomaly. Over two thousand other UAL pilots have very similar W2's. That's approximately 30% of the pilot group. And this is the top of the profession, the proverbial brass ring.

Go over to the "Hiring News", the "Regional", or "Career" threads and there will be hundreds, if not thousands, of pilots eager to apply and fly at the majors. No one seems capable of seeing the industry for what it is.

I'm glad you pointed that out, samballs.
The company (with full permission from our union) was forcing me and thousands of others at the bottom third of the seniority list to work 95 hours a month, every month. Which took me away from my wife and children for about 20 days a month. I really didn't want to get started about what my quality of life was like, I just wanted to post some simple numbers that everyone could understand.

You really shouldn't post numbers like these on public message boards. Some manager will see this and feel justified in the fact that we make way too much money just sitting there pushing buttons and ask for more givebacks.
By the way my numbers look very much the same, I wonder why the press never references stuff like this when quoting airline pilot pay?
