The FA's don't like passengers and like the idea of treating them like prisoners. As a result they want no increased privileges. The AFA would probably be a fan of putting all passengers in restraints with gags. If you don't like passengers and you hate providing customer service.....QUIT. Lets get some new blood young and happy maybe.

Incident a few years back.
Grandma in back realizes she somehow got through security with a little pen knife in her purse. Rather than remain silent about it, she "turns herself in" to the #1 FA, who goes into orbit. The tiny knife is passed up to us.
We play with it, realize it might kill a mouse if we work hard at it, and then have to decide what to do. #1 FA is out for blood, and our manual basically says "you MUST notify dispatch blah blah." Seeing no way to cover this up and let grandma proceed on her trip, we text dispatch.
Grandma is met by police, and taken away, at our destination. FA has triumphant look on her face.
I still feel guilty about this, but we couldn't see any way around it. The procedures were explicit, and #1 was going to be sure justice was served.

Did anyone see the FA on TV this morning, talking about this very issue?
I wish someone had pointed out to her that as soon as the meal service starts, she will be handing much bigger knives to everyone on board....
