I was ALPA for several years so I've seen plenty.


However, I've got to hear about the politics and waste you speak of that compel you to deny yourself and your family of so much!


30% is a massive discount. Have you always been such a willing fall guy?

He just earns revenue for management, then management pays dues to their representation, the A4A, and politics is done that effects him whether he likes it or not.

The propaganda (blue juice) that allows someone to to be treated like a child yet believe that he is respected as a professional is mind blowing.

Whats funny about some of the anti-alpa jetblue crowd is they dislike ALPA for their poilitics. One thing to keep in mind is Jetblue, Barger and the BOD are in favor of foreign ownership. ALPA is fighting everyday to prevent this.

What is sad is, most pilots don't even know what you are talking about, or they are so ignorant of the issue they can't even begin to comprehend the severity of the issue. Ignorance is blue and bliss. So ignorant that they will arrogantly debate their denial.

Exactly. Most ignorant pilot group I have ever encountered. It's wilful ignorance no less.

New Obamacare effect: working spouses taken off UPS health plans

Still not much to report in the health-care markets, so let’s focus on another story, this one from Kaiser Health News:
that United Parcel Service Inc. is blaming President Obama’s health-care overhaul for eliminating coverage for 15,000 working spouses of its employees.
The move is expected to save the package delivery service specialist about $60 million a year, and the policy applies only to non-union U.S. workers. It’s part of a trend that some companies are following in order to cut back on medical expenses.
Kaiser Health News’s story, done in conjunction with USA Today, cites a survey by Towers Watson, which says 4% of large employers planned to exclude spouses from coverage if their own employers offered health insurance. Another 8% planned to make such a change next year, when major provisions of Obamacare start to take effect.
Some companies are following similar paths to UPS. There are those who are either paying bonuses to employees who take already-covered spouses off their plan, while others charge penalties to those who don’t. Look for other major employers to consider the move in the near future

These costs are going up for ALL employees. If you think unions will be 100% exempt from the rising cost in health care you are an !diot. Eventually everyone will have to pay for this disaster. Yes, they will negotiate, but what will they give up? Don't believe me?!? AMR declared bankruptcy with money in the bank.. They then went after the contracts... This stupid law needs to go away and if u voted for him, shame on you!

That's why it's very important you leave immediately! Please don't allow yourself the embarrassment of being here anymore. In fact quit even before interviewing anywhere else so you won't have to be humiliated if they do call. Good luck we're all counting on you!

What are your healthcare cost at JB? What does a single pilot pay and what does a pilot pay for employee, spouse and family? Anyone?

I am on the green plan 115 per paycheck (because I was on crew care 2 last year so I got the discount), no sick children but I had my second child. After the seed money I am about 9800 (my wife and I both had 2500 FSAs) out of pocket for the year as of end of August. Still got four months left so I am trying to hit the max out of pocket of over 13 K. I am switching to Kaiser next year as It doesnt make sense to stay on JB health care with a family. I would rather pay for an aftermarket plan that has low detuctables and high monthly plan costs (about 600-800 range) and take the write off of on the monthly plan costs at the end of the year. Gotta love the DR!!!
