Recall of DAL MEC Officers

Still boggles my mind that I, as a paying dues member in good standing, has no say in who is going to lead us. And I dont count that BS statement that, "I voted for my LEC and he gets to vote for me because he knows what's better for me". What if I didnt vote for the LEC rep? Is he voting for my wishes? I do believe we are the only union that the members can not personally vote for their Union President....... BS!

Mm-okay.
The duties of the Chairman are no different than those of the rest of his administration. Got it. The Secretary appoints the EA's, and the Treasurer appoints all committee chairman. The Vice Chairman is an ex officio member of the Negotiating committee. That must be the way it works!
What if the Chairman wasn't doing his job well, and Bartels' opinion about it was out of touch with the majority of the MEC? Is that possible?
And thanks for the promotion! According to you I've gone from "lackey" to "cheerleader" to "top lieutenant".

Do you really think nobody notices your spin and dissembling?

Two in a row Karnak. First you delete a key sentence of Bartells in order to destroy context and make your utterly invalid point. When I call you out on it, you ignore it, change the subject and write this unresponsive post.

Then again I guess only the almighty Carl has the ability to "call" someone out.
Thanks for the morning laugh.

Bill Bartels made a very good arguent. He would make a good attorney (if he could stand the hours and the pay cut).
In reality, the process provides the plan. The Vice Chairman assumes the role of Chairman.
I liked Roberts in the very few dealings I had with him. My first hand experience was the he is an earnest and honest man. Had he started fresh with a new Administration, as Moak did, he probably would have been OK. But, he tried to moderate and bring various folks together. That is clearly a more difficult path to take. Perhaps too difficult.
I believe our Vice Chairman, now Master Chairman to be fully capable. He's got a good perspective about him.

The Reps and Admin knew the ins and outs of everything going on much more than the pilots and voted 10-9 for recall. So 52.6% for recall, 47.4% against, right?
Now I'm not saying the rules don't allow for it but why do a role call vote as if the pilots themselves were voting if nobody knew how the pilots felt about it? It'd be like the Senate needing 66 votes and instead getting 53-47 and saying well screw it, let's turn ourselves into the House for a moment and vote again.

Hmmm. So think this through. Every four years people go to vote for President but none, zip, zero of those ballots list the names of the Presidential candidates (Barack Obama, Mitt Romney, George Bush, John McCain, etc). Instead every ballot just has a list of mysterious electors, with no designation of who they are, what party they're from or anything. You just select a random elector and all these no name electors get together at some sort of "electoral college" campus and chose the President some other day based on who they believe is best.
Won by a half million votes, lost the election, DUH.

B) Don't call elections while people are voting.
C) ?
You elect your President state by state by state and there is a lot of good reasons for that. The candidate that wins the state wins the electoral votes of the state. It is not an old style electoral college where you select someone to go and pick your President on your behalf, you select the one you want and if they win the majority they win the state and the electors go and make it official.

The context, for those of us at the meeting, was relieving a Captain or Commander in the military, vice recalling a Leader or a democratic organization.
Bill made a reasonable argument, but he ignored the points made after his "not the military" comment. Those points were, that Chairman has responsibilities and authority well-beyond the other members of the administration, and that concerns about the others should be addressed in the same manner as those about the Chairman.
That took place, and only the Chairman was recalled.
