Immoderately proud to say, two of the recent DL hires came out of my last Reserve unit. Great guys, one a Reserv baby.

Default Guys with interviews

2 x SWA only
1 x UAL only
1 x SWA/DAL

All are fighter/2k+/IP/SEFE active duty or reserves and most had high level rec's.

SWA seemed to go well, the contacts are being called.

DAL interview this week.

Default Who's been hired?

I would also love to know what interview prep the new hires used, if any, and if they have any ideas why their buddies may not have been hired...?

For United, I would recommend Cage Consulting for the HR portion. DeeDee was fantastic!!!! For the sim portion I recommend Emerald Coast.

Default Emerald Coast

F/A-18 IP, ~2100 hrs, ~1800 PIC.

Recently given the 'conditional' offer from Delta.

I used Emerald Coast and fully endorse their product.

Of the two guys in my interview group that were not hired, both failed the panel interveiw. It is not nearly as often that someone fails the pilot knowledge test or the cog skills test with Delta. Most of the failures are the panel interview.

One of the guys who was not hired had not even heard of Emerald Coast which was very surprising considering he was military and most units are fully aware of what it takes to prep for the interview. The other guy seemed a little unwilling to openly discuss some of his past failures in pilot training, which is something that the interview prep will help you with. Like it has been mentioned many times before on this forum, it is really no big deal if have failed check rides in the past, but you must have a solid 'lesson learned' story to go along with those failures to demonstrate that you're accountable for your shortcomings and can learn from your mistakes.

Even if you feel like you're solid on those subjects, by signing up for the interview prep you will no doubt have a chance to develope your skills and brainstorm your experiences while you go through the training.

I was hired by Delta in 2008. I didn't do any formal prep, but I made Irv Jasinski's (spelling?) "Airline Pilot Interviews" my "interview bible". The whole book is good, but one chapter has a ton of interview questions and he gives advice on how to structure your responses. I worked on that chapter for about a month, making a notebook as I went. Really helped me in the interview portion.

No prep for me either, hired in 2010. I read the Delta L&G thread on here, a veritable fountain of knowledge and advice.

Default This is your career!

When I had interviews (back in 2000) with SWA and Delta I did interview prep and it was invaluable. Anyone who doesn't do some sort of interview prep is selling themselves short. If a book works for you, fine, find out who works and knows about the companies you're interviewing with and get the experience.

I interviewed at United in 2008. Easiest most relaxed interview I have ever had. It may have changed since but nothing to worry about. No prep required.
