It still does if that rec comes from high up. I honestly thought that CRJ driver guy was a chick though. I stalked his post history and the way he typed things strikes me as very feminine. A lot of Lols and emoticons.

I love all the men claiming that being a woman gives you a competitive edge. I have yet to see that in my 6,000+ hr career. Maybe it gives the one an edge who does "extra curricular" activities. I don't know. All of the women I have kept in touch with in this industry have had times and competitive qualifications for every position they earned.
It's just a fact of life. There's no denying it.
The EEOC made sure that the playing field wasn't level...

Sad FACT, before 9/11 that just simply wasn't the case. FACT, pre 9/11, pilots who were hired who were outside the majority demographic had HALF the times/quals as those that were within the majority demographic. HR and recruiters would often say that with ZERO reservation back then. When airlines do the compare/rank/rack and stack of applicants it's often done with peer comparison. Not just mil and civ, but other demographics as well.
And yep, the three women I know hired recently were very competitive. Two were instructors. I also know one that was turned down, competitive as well.

If you can't accept that there are some inherent advantages to being a female in this industry, then you just aren't being realistic.
I imagine there are also some disadvantages. Based solely on numbers, men are more likely to remember flying with women, and more likely to talk about flights they had with women. It's therefore probably tougher to recover from a bad trip/line check/training event/sleeping with a coworker/etc.

I think you're correct, but recs and qualifications get you the interview, not the job. My experience recently suggests that even strong internals at Usair don't get you in front of an interview board.

Wow.. pretty offensive words! Did it ever occur to you that maybe I just love my job and am a positive person.. Maybe you should focus more on other things than stalking people's profiles.. Also, I don't know how that sexist discriminating attitude is tolerated wherever you work..
