Corporate aviation has been very good to me but quite simply I can't sacrifice my family anymore to live this lifestyle. Chasing a yachts around the world for weeks on end followed by a single day off can wear a person out quickly. Furthermore, job stability is something I'm desperately seeking and Southwest hopefully will provide just that along with a great culture.

While I'll take a large paycut from flying BBJ's, Globals, and Gulftstreams it will be somewhat short lived. I make what a 5-10 year FO at Southwest makes and not even close to Captain pay.

I feel extremely humbled and fortunate to join the Southwest ranks.

Interesting.

My husband works for Netjets. Days off = phone off. His 2016 7 day on, 7 day off pay will be 160ish with 4 weeks vacation.

He is constantly going back and forth about leaving for 121.

NJ is very different from a typical part 91 flight department.

Could be all the above. Ask your husband for his take on it.

Default Who's been hired?

One just needs to look at upgrade times/pay at NJA. It's a step above the regionals, but sadly lacking behind legacies and LCC's.

Tell him not to listen to the trolls who haunt this website. We have had a trickle , growing to a steady stream leaving for SWA, United, and all the sundry LCCs. Good guys and girls going to good places, God bless 'em : )

Good to know. Are you planing on retiring from NJA? I'll bet you could have many options besides NJA with your 747 experience.

That's the million dollar question!!! : ) I have a unique situation my wife is a major airline pilot, our life works very well with the 7&7 , home basing, and only one of us bidding a line and commuting each month, both bidding, and commuting, with kids, not easy, or conducive to QOL : )
