After chewing on it, I'm somewhat encouraged by the new guy's pledge to focus on "strategic planning." Maybe it means DALPA will start playing chess.

DALPA's been playing chess. Strategic planning has been a huge focus all along. The problem as I see it is they are not playing "chess" with the objective of winning (i.e. restoring our profession and our careers). A strategic plan designed to accomplish a weak objective will... well... accomplish a weak result.

That type of passive-aggressive behavior isn't how I'd define effective team building or representation. Please Run meets In Your Face. So for the next year, every time those 3 reps ask Donatelli to help them or do something for them, he will wonder if those "Lucys" will pull the football away, again.

Who were the other 2 who asked him to run and didn't vote?

That's not the timeline according to MD, and you didn't mention that BB assured him that he had "the votes in his pocket" for MD to win. Also, you didn't mention the call from C1 requesting MD to run.

Funny how things work out sometimes.

Classic! Let's see, C20 and C1 talk MD into running for chairman, purportedly they just wanted to peel away a few votes from JVS. MD, after considering it, announces just 3-4 days before the vote to run. Ten reps then consider the field and decide that MD will be the next chairman and C1 and C20's candidate loses to the guy they had hoped would just draw a few votes from JVS. Funny how things work out sometimes is right.

Of course, one candidate didn't even receive the vote from the guy who nominated him.

They didn't need to peel any votes from JVS - AA had it. MD was supposedly not interested in running until he was convinced to when the recall cabal saw they might lose. Wonder who convinced him to run?

MD will do a good, possibly great job as long as he governs from the middle and doesn't take his cues from the entrenched bureaucracy that staged the KR recall. If he does he stands a good chance at killing the DPA in the process.

The DALPA mission statement needs to truly embrace "enhance the careers, pay and benefits of DAL pilots" while dropping the secret part of "don't ever, ever, EVER let the former NWA pilots take over"

Do you really believe what you write?

Tell me again, what was JVS's pre-merger airline?

Why did C1 and C20 recruit a south guy to run against JVS?

STOP the divisive BS. If you've got an issue, at least tell the truth.

Not BS. You and your small group are about maintaining control at all costs. KR was recalled to maintain control, violating what were professed as sacred at DALPA - never use the roll call, humble in victory and gracious in defeat. That style of leadership is why we have a DPA. It's your legacy.

PS: Who nominated JVS then didn't vote for him? At least those that nominated AA and MD voted for them.

I see that the questions were too tough or inconvenient for you to answer, so you deflected to another talking point. Embarrassed by your words?

As to control, there are 19 voting LEC reps. The vote was 10-9. What part of democracy don't you like? BTW, the vote to recall the previous MEC Chair was also 10-9, which meant a majority of the MEC didn't support the elected Chairman. What part of that democracy didn't you like? In the election for the previous MEC Chair the vote was 11-8. You seemed to like that democracy, because the guy you thought you could control got elected.

Who is really looking for control?

It's time for you to stop practicing the politics of chaos and division. It's time for you to quit pandering and misleading. You're a capable guy. You write well when you stick to facts. But don't act all butt hurt when you come out on the minority end of a vote. Work honorably to convince more of the rightness and efficacy of your point of view. Carry the day. Then deliver. We'll all be better off.
