This has been hashed and re-hashed, but for the sake of discussion, I'll play along...again.

Please re-read my post. Note the part where I say "regardless of what came later...". ABX was hosed due to foreign ownership issues. No union can stop that. BUT they enjoyed the best pay scale in the business. Thanks to IBT and strong pilot participation and involvement.

After having IBT negotiate huge increases and an industry-leading contract, NetJets gained enough size that they decided to go in-house. We may ultimately do that at some point but our choices are in-house or IBT (ALPA wasn't interested as they were overwhelmed with lawsuits and issues with other airlines). We don't have the resources (manpower, expertise, $$) to go against MG and F&H. We learned that the hard way.

Regardless of past experience, IBT has been great so far. We haven't spent a dime and they've been there for us every step of the way. Union success is based on participation and MEC involvement. Both get straight A's in my book so far.

Loon,
labeling me as the most pro-teamster is not founded. I am far from it.

I decided not to hijack the thread. Sending you a PM instead.

Take care,

Seattlepilot.

Not exactly. Teamsters national took away negotiations and produced an inadequate ta. Just another backstabbing teamsters move. Want to try again?

A lot of hate for IBT from the RAH guys here. Honestly, I don't know the ins and outs of what went down over there, so I will reserve judgment. However, our hands were tied when it came to choosing representation. ALPA wasn't an option and an in-house was not doable. So far, we have been happy with the representation. Will that change? Maybe, but we'll take that as it comes. However, a union was an absolute necessity and if you want to know why, there are over 100 pages on another Allegiant thread for your reading pleasure.

Frustrated that we chose IBT when RAH guys were warning us not to? Now you know how WE feel when we see guys in newhire class here when we have been warning them against coming here. But, you make decisions and you live with them.

Your pilot group absolutely made the right choice. Hopefully they will get your pilot group the contract you deserve. I would also not be surprised if Rick D. comes to your group with a pos contract and says it's the best you will get because your just an lcc. I will be quite interested to see how the nmb handles allegiant.

From what I recall it seems pay for departure is up against an impossible hill. You’re competing for three customers who have successfully colluded on price. The pay shortage over time might change this. Or, it’s all the teamsters fault.

Our struggle has been quite different. A while back things were ok around here. You really did just drive an airplane to work. Home every night. Then something happened, it coincides with the arrival our dirt bag northwest crew. They saw an open field of virgin territory with no bounds. You asked about a cvg base. They want us to have no bases. They want you to be assigned trips in one city, and be beholding for trips in another city across the country. Basic, ridiculous crap, that doesn’t happen at your worst regional.

The level of obtuseness is mind-boggling. We don’t need the fanciest representation. Think desert storm 1. The late Saddam Hussein is a perfect example of who we’re dealing with; Delusional, bunker mentality, bully on the block writing checks he can't cash. Setting himself up nicely on an open battlefield.

I'm curious...what's your take on the Midwest mafia that's dug in as well?

From what I've been told, most of them are the rejects from their training department, or were thrown out of their training department for one reason or another.

This thread started the bash management's bad-faith negotiating.

It's shifted to pilots bashing each other's unions.

Management wins again
