This is a good point that I am sure most people will miss. At traditional screening the privilege of bringing liquids through has only been given to us if we are in uniform. If you are in plain clothes then we can not bring whatever liquids we want. I imagine KCM would abide by the same policy, but I'm sure this won't be an issue unless they start doing random screening at the KCM checkpoint.

Which they do - I was pulled out of line last week in Atlanta to be randomly screened. So maybe the lesson here is to not use KCM in plain clothes unless you plan on obeying the liquid rule?

That's a very good question regarding the liquids that needs an answer. Logically, I'd hope itfyou have a crew ID in your possession that you'd be exempt from the restriction no matter your attire. That seems to be the likely conclusion given this most recent announcement.

As a jumpseater, you are legally part of the crew, so you can't drink, and cannot be under the influence of alchohol...that is my understanding.

So far this is the only information out on this policy change. I would be willing to bet there will be additional clarifications as to what is appropriate use of this and what is prohibited. They have not published any information on the intent or reasoning for this change.

The first schmuck pilot (or FA) who rolls through KCM in a Hawaiian shirt, cargo shorts, and flip flops and ruins it for the rest of us, I'm going to be ****ed!

If you are not in uniform yes. If you are in uniform for the flight then no. Uniformed crew members have a exemption.

How would they screw it up for you? You're allowed to wear those through as of Jan 13.

He didn't say he was a jumpseater he said he was a non rev. So it's not a problem.

The "intent" according to an ALPA KCM guy was to allow commuting pilots and flight attendants to preserve their uniforms during their commute to and from work....They did not work on this at all for non-rev travel....Just as you are not allowed to use your ID now to be excluded from screening or the liquid rules while you are traveling for pleasure......
