They also sell toothpaste, deoderant, shaving cream etc. I guess they could cross reference everything from the official approved liquids and gels list from each vendor's inventory.

You are very wrong there. All employees must have a SIDA clearance. You have a limited SIDA clearance that grants you access to limited areas on the airport including lounges and the ramp in the vicinity of your aircraft. What most airlines don't do is badge you for full SIDA clearance including escort privileges and unlimited ramp access. No badge is required for the basic clearance. Your employer ID is sufficient.
I am surprised however we are even having this discussion. How hard is it just to follow the rules. Are we in kindergarten or something?

Delta requires that you only wear the uniform to and from work or while working. I think most airlines have that in their FOM.
Sailingfun you seem to be completely full of ****. Do you just make this stuff up as you go? I'm sure the TSA has never done a random gate check of pilots who have passed through KCM. If said pilot changed out of uniform how would they ever find them? Do you read your posts before hitting submit?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it does happen. I've been randomly selected several times in the past year alone.

I am going to assume by your post you don't actually work for a airline. TSA sets up random checks every day at major airports. In fact they are required to check a certain percentage of flights. They seem to love to grab crew members for random searches, we are easy to spot even out of uniform. 3 weeks ago in fact I was working a flight where TSA was doing random ckecks. They usually set up a table and pull aside every third or 4th passenger.

What is the obsession with liquids? What liquids beyond what's allowed to be carried by your average pax, do you need? I always commute out of uniform, and go through normal security. I just bring travel sized products and use a zip lock bag in lue of a Dot kit. Liquids or not I'm looking forward to saving 6 to 9 minutes every trip with KCM now.

Default Known Crewmember Change..

My obsession with liquids is based in the fact that I'm lazy, and I don't want to have to buy little toothpastes, deodorants, etc. They run out quickly, and dammit, I'm in control of the plane already. If I can be trusted to fly it, I can be trusted with my family-size toothpaste.

It's just a stupid policy.

I don't know who you work for but at Alaska Airlines we are specifically exempt from random searches at the gate. These teams of TSA officers are sometimes called a VIPER squad. They do not harass the crew, in uniform, of the flight.
