The crazy is extra strong in this thread! I wasn't here pre-strike but don't see how anyone can say this isn't the biggest cluster they've ever seen. While I don't agree in the exact terminology of the MEC email or that it isn't blatantly stating you will get premium pay for any out of schedule flying, I don't see what the hissy fits are about. It plainly states that you have the right to refuse anything outside of your "personal limits" with no chance of discipline. You guys need to put away the tin foil.

You have to call in fatigue to get out of assignment.

It is inappropriate to put that on the pilots and then have to deal with fatigue report and SMS baloney.

No, All kidding aside. This is an embarrassment to the pilot group. Waiving Section 25 without a formal premium pay compensation formula is a disgrace. If indeed the airline was ready to shut down it should have been easy. Leaving upgrade training study time to 'work the phones' is unforgivable. What is this clown actually doing? calling random people begging them to fly? or is he calling his friends handing out 200% vouchers?

Now my lighter is dead

Amen to that!! Sheesh. The company did this to themselves, no doubt. But cutting your nose off to spite your face??? REALLY?? This may turn out to be the biggest bargaining chip yet for the negotiating committee. "We helped you out big time, now show us appreciation. Let's call this appreciation 'Parity' starting August 1." And if that doesn't work quickly, it would be very easy to bring major disruptions with little effort.

It sounds like they have gotten the unwanted attention of DC FAA and the BOD.

BENDOver once again. It's going to be a long summer. But it's OK. Spirit management promised they wouldn't forget about this. Just like all the times they promised to abide by the contract...or when during the strike Baldanza was telling the media the operation would be back up and running shortly thanks to replacement pilots he had...yeah their words are so trustworthy.

My concern is our MEC chairman has no regard for the other members of our union leadership and their opinions. He seems to think the preceding 23 years of this airline has changed because he puts out a podcast and sings kumbaya with Bendo on conference calls. Somehow in his mind this will magically result in a great TA in 6 weeks. We need to keep our expectations in check

"Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consiousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

Why do you have such a hard on for this guy?
