And the guys at Autopilot On had me on their podcast! They put out a great relevant and topical discussion that I was honored to be a part of.
When you have a moment check them out!

HAHA! Unfortunately there is way too much truth to that. I look at new FOs at my company trying to buy a house and paying double what I paid for the same house less than a decade ago with triple the interest rate. It sucks

tnkrdrvr,
Exactly. Sure, there are some aspects the Gen Z and Millennial pilots had easy, but there's other parts of their life that aren't nearly as smooth sailing as the Boomers. And I use that tern in the modern way that it's morphing into, which is actually pretty cool in and of itself.

And today's-

I mention this quite often to the people I fly with... they seem to agree but never get the hint either.

By the way, to those useless and annoying PA's in the cartoon, you need to add all the useless and annoying PA's the FAs do, especially the super long winded hard sell of the credit cards.

I completely agree except I came to realize what an integral part those credit cards are to the success of the business. Therefore those PAs are actually necessary.

Also, at Spirit they have told us that customer surveys show that people heavily favor hearing multiple stupid PAs from the pilots. Actually had a passenger express his displeasure that I did not make a cruise PA at 5am.

Personally I’d like to put a deactivated sticker on the PA of all the planes.

95% of pax either don't care or are annoyed. But apparently the nervous flyers *really* like to hear from a pilot, who hopefully sounds competent and alert.
