I never felt comfortable doing that with airline CBT's... kids talk.

Mil CBT's on the other hand... actually potentially useful for my kids get to learn about substance abuse, suicide, etc. before going off to college.

I don’t know why one would need a kid to do the CBTs. If you want to defeat the purpose of the things, just let it run on a nearby ipad while doing household chores and click next every few minutes and save yourself some chocolate chip cookies. :-\

I've never understood why some pilots change the way they talk when they key the mic.

If you look good and sound good on the radio, then everyone automatically assumes you know what you're doing and it's all ok. It's a bit like sending a bit of audio valium over the airwaves. Drop your voice down an octave, add a little southern drawl or rasp, and suddenly everyone just knows you've got your feces consolidated (or you're a hoopy frood who really knows where his towel is) and you can therefore get away with just about anything.

This is a universal truth. Anyone arguing about it's validity clearly has no airmanship and their opinion can be safely discounted.

"Oh crap we're on fire and gonna die everyone panic together now!!!!"

or

"Ladies and gentlemen, ahhhh.... you may have ahhhh noticed... ahhh... we have a bit of a barbeque going out on the left wing ahhh.... We're just gonna head over to ahhhh Albuquerque for a little stop and ahhh... we'll be on the ground real quick so uhhhhhh just buckle up and thanks for flying skrywest..."

"ABQ center ahhh.... we got a little bit of a, er, malfunction going on, we're gonna need to uhhhh... divert to Phoenix. We're direct Phoenix for 26 and we'll be there in uhhh 12 minutes. 2 hrs of fuel 143 souls on board roll the trucks uhhhh we'll stop on the runway that'll work thanks skrywest 123"

"OMG we're on fire tell my wife I love her oh we're gonna diiiiieeeeeeee"

It's an art form, takes years of experience and practice to master. Flying an airframe older than 40 yrs helps for no reason other than multiple opportunities to practice... ask any tweet IP.
