Hello, I was just wondering if it is possible to get hired by a major with no turbine experience. If you had 1500 or say even 2000 multi-piston time is it still possible to get hired at Southwest, Fedex, UPS, and other big airlines? Just Wondering.

Maybe if it was a large piston airplane like a DC-6.

Anything is possible, although with the large number of qualified applicants with thousands of hours of jet PIC time I don't think it's probable.

Don't listen to this bull$hit. This is the pure sign of a male with a chip on their shoulder. They still think it's 1985, not 2007. You have to meet the minimums regardless of gender, color, etc. Look on the airline's websites. The requirements will say whether the time has to be turbine, etc. I would say that at FedEx, UPS and SWA you have to have turbine.

Captain Mark's point was that minorities tend to get hired with less qualifications, but they do need the minimums
