tsquare,

Heber has changed mightily over the past several years. In fact virtually all of the small towns around here are experiencing "explosive growth". Prices for homes, as well as vacant land, have shot up.

Somewhere I read that you were a regular at Moose's in Kalispell. I sure do miss that place. I was "stuck" there on 9/11 for five days.

The area around Whitefish also has changed drastically, as has Missoula. My girlfriend's parents live about an hour or so from Missoula and whenever we visit, I "smuggle" Moose Drool back to Utah. They sell it at Costco in Missoula. It's about time for a visit as my supply is down to about a case.

Guess you also missed (again) upndsky's reply that over 1,300 are retiring in the next 13 years... Your misunderstanding of my original post, and continued implication that I said only 400 were going away was what I was addressing. Unless someone's one of the fortunate few in Carl's position, all 1,300 are likely senior, and the other 300 of the top 700 and many, many more will be close on their heels, rapidly eclipsing NWA's total retirements around that same timeframe. (See the relative retirement graphic.)

Lee Moak summed it up for me today. Evidently at NWA there are a lot of very senior Republic pilots who want to get in a widebody but cannot because they can't bump someone out of their current seat. Lee is not going to allow the Republic pilots to get into a widebody seat at the expense of the Delta pilots.

Wow, you guys just love to talk out your As* dont you! Sorry to tell you, There are plenty of Republic guys that can hold widebody CA at NWA. You have to remember, oh wait you dont do research before you talk, approx 24 yrs of service is some of the more junior Republic guys. I will just leave it at that.

Oh wait, thats right according to DALPA, NWA pilots are trying to staple all of you to the bottom of our list, right?

I am not trying to flame here, but I feel the need to address the above statement. The very Republic pilots that you speak of are the guys I fly with every day. While most feel like the Roberts award did them an injustice everyone of them that I have flown with since the merger was rumored has mentioned they don't want the inequities they endured to be done to any DAL pilots. As mentioned AV8ER13, a lot of these guys can hold wide body CA positions already but have elected to maintain the QOL that they currently enjoy.

it's you who is missing it this time. I'm not saying that only 400 are retiring. that point was made clear long ago. that's why I said I might have missed something or that those numbers seemed low in the original post.

before you take those graphs as fact you should look at the graph where it shows new hires in the last year. both are off for nwa and delta by about half.

Eric,
It depends on how you interpret the graph. DAL's number spikes to about 450 but the base of the graph covers two years. That could very easily be ment to imply 900 and would be pretty accurate. Ditto for the NW graph. I think they are pretty accurate but its all irrelevant because its all speculation until we are looking back and then time will tell

Yes, they senior enough to hold it. If so, why can't they get in a widebody seat? Once the fences came down, they are allowed to bid what they can hold when a vacancy exists. But, they cannot bump someone out of their current seat. Tell me any of what I said so far is incorrect.
