Any news, rumors, guesses on the post-merger fleet? My guess (based only on a few rumblings I've heard and mostly my speculation) is that the company sells the early 787-8 delivery slots back to BA at a nice profit to help them catch up on delayed orders and uses the delay compensation to cut a deal on 777-300s, 777LRs, and 737s and uses NW's current 787 options on the eventual 787-9. I think they really want the 787-9 and may not want to have a relatively small fleet of -8s. 777-300s, LRs replace the 74s fairly quickly since they are much less thirsty. I hope I'm wrong but on the other hand getting a lot of new 777s quickly may work out well for all of us. Cheers.

You won't be the only one. There's plenty of current DL guys who use their's as a rollerboard topper.

Had recurrent this week. Up on the fourth floor they were talking about the 787. Evidently it is way overweight. Looks like a large portion of the 787 options will be converted to 777s.

The only 787 rumor I hear is from you guys. When I was at CQ (recurrent, yet another new term to learn) the 787 office was busy and the sim is in the building. So, don't know........the 787-9 would be a nicer jet, but the -8 was supposed to cover some thin routes from the US to the Asia rim. Also, yes I've heard it's overweight too and we will probably sue because it's late.
Oh, and looking at the cockpit wall posters.......it's not a big leap over what we're used to. A 757 guy forward will be right at home in no time. Now, about the crew bunks.............

Win-win. Glen gets the airplane he wants, we get more widebodies on a plane that can be delivered whenever we want, and DAL gets the planes at a tidy discount.

We will get 787's when and what model are still up to debate on the fourth floor.
We may opt to move our delivery dates later for a nice discount on some 777's and 73NG's. It is a win-win for DAL and Boeing. It will save both companies money.
RA is playing Airbus off of Boeing and v/s. It is a good tactic. Who know what we will get, the goal is to get both of them to believe that a customer is at risk. It drives the price down and makes them more competitive to us.
Either way more airplanes mean more pilots.
These suckers that we are getting are going to go farther in a day than most pilots want to.
